Drama

We have two Drama Clubs in School - one for the lower school (Years 7, 8 and 9) and one for the upper school (Years 10 and 11).

Junior Drama Club

The Junior Club meets once a week in a lunchtime session. This is a fun club involving scripts, games and improvisations, and ocassional showcase performances.

School Production

The school production is either a large play or a musical. We meet once a week after school and once during lunch break. Parts are open to students in Years 7-11, and are decided purely on an auditon basis. The annual production is a highlight of the school year for many. During the week in which this occurs, students from every year group unite to display their talents as actors, singers, dancers and instrumentalists, as well as in the design and technical aspects of the productions and in choreography. Performances either take place in our beautiful Main Hall, or in a professional local theatre.

Past productions include: "Robin Hood", "Treasure Island", "We Will Rock You", "Crazy for You", "Guys and Dolls", "My Fair Lady", "Me and My Girl", "The Sound of Music", "Half a Sixpence", "Annie Get Your Gun", "Carousel", "The King and I", "Oklahoma!", and "Beauty and The Beast".

Music

Music extra-curricular

Students are able to join a wide range of groups and ensembles. The Wind Band welcomes woodwind and brass players of Grade 2 standard and above.  The Band is joined by our other ensembles and soloists for our annual Christmas Concert.

Our Choir meets on a lunchtime and rehearses throughout the Autumn term in preparation for a number of concerts.  The Musical, which takes place at the end of the Spring term, enables vocalists to develop their skills either as soloists or as part of the chorus.

The String Orchestra performs at both the Annual Christmas Concert and the Summer Soiree Concert.  Again, the minimum standard is Grade 2.

The Soul Band performs music in many different styles. Minimum standard for the Soul Band is Grade 3, and it requires knowledge of a wide range of chords and rhythms.

In addition, students are able to join our Guitar Ensemble, Flute Choir and Chamber Choir, the minimum standard for each of these being Grade 3.

In the Summer term, the School holds its House Music and Verse Speaking Competition, giving students the opportunity to perform in public either as soloists or as part of an ensemble, and our Summer Soiree concert is a delightful evening of al-fresco music-making
