Welcome From The Headteacher
The Gregg School is a co-educational independent all-through school for girls and boys aged 4-16, with a roll of approximately 370 students. Founded in the city in 1901, we are a member of both the Independent Schools Association and the Independent Schools Council.
At The Gregg School, we shape education around the child, with every aspect thoughtfully connected to support both progressive personal development and strong academic challenge. Eco-pedagogy is our distinctive take on education – we see our learning environment as a living and interdependent ecosystem. It is our dynamic, interconnected network, that brings together every element of school life: teaching, learning, wellbeing, ecology, relationships, and opportunity, into a carefully balanced whole.
As a truly independent, long-established school, we have the freedom to reflect on our practice, draw on research, and adapt with wisdom and agility. Through intentionally small class sizes, expert teaching, diverse opportunities and a highly personalised approach, we ensure each child is both supported and challenged to achieve their academic best at every stage of their journey.
