Healthy eating and food allergies
We wholeheartedly encourage a healthy lifestyle within our schools. We adhere to the principle of ‘getting the balance right’; providing enough fruit and vegetables, protein, fibre and starchy foods whilst limiting fat, sugar and salt.
Food Allergies in the Gregg School
Our goal is to help pupils of all ages enjoy balanced meals. If your child has an allergy or food intolerance please do let us know, we are experienced in catering for many different diets and our trained teams will provide them with an alternative meal, ensuring their dietary needs are met.
How we manage food allergies
We are a nut-free school. All medical information is shared with the necessary staff members who need to know about any students with specific dietary requirements. This includes:
- Allergy/intolerance form, which is shared with catering staff and the first aid officer;
- A photograph of the child, along with details of their allergy in the kitchen or serving area;
- Individual healthcare plans were produced. Updated yearly, or after any change in circumstance;
- Spare AAI’s in school (2);
- Students should carry their own AAI’s on them at all times.
- Storage of AAI’s in school;
- Expiry dates of AAI’s.
-
Instructions for staff members on how to use AAI’s.
Snacks
A range of healthy and filling snacks are on offer during the mid-morning break.
